Foley top three-point shooter

3/MAR/2008 – The WNBL's award for Best 3-Point Shooting Percentage has gone to the Link Lightning's Jess Foley.

25-year-old Foley hit 34 triples from 72 attempts for a league best 47.2% success rate in 23 home and away games this season.

She netted a season high five threes from a season high nine attempts on her way to 30 points against Sydney Uni in Round 5.

LEADING SCORER:
Natalie PORTER - ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flames

Following on from her outstanding season last year, Porter amassed a league high 566 points through 23 regular season games to average a league best and career high 24.6 points per game.

She scored 10 or more points in all 23 games, 20 points or more in 12 games, 30 points or more in three games and twice netted a career high 41 points.

Her two 41-point hauls puts her in second and third places behind Belinda Snell (54) for most points by a Sydney Uni player in a single WNBL game.

Porter also tallied 109 assists at 4.7 per game (2nd in the league) and 171 rebounds at 7.6 per game (10th in the league).

She shot at an impressive 43.1% (209-from-485) from the field.

She was also named Nivea Player of the Week in Rounds 3, 11 and 12.

LEADING REBOUNDER:
Jennifer CROUSE - SeaFM Townsville Fire

In her second season with Townsville, the 192cm Crouse tallied a league best 291 rebounds through 24 home and away games to average a league high 12.1 rebounds per game.

The American averaged a league best 4.1 offensive boards per game and ranked second for most defensive rebounds per game with 8.0 per game.

She tallied ten or more rebounds in nine games, 15 rebounds or more seven times as well as once tallying 21 (round 17) boards and once pulling in 22 rebounds in a single game with her 22 boards in Round 13 a new club record, surpassing the previous mark of 20 held by Suzi Batkovic.

Further, her 22 rebound performance ranks her equal ninth of all-time in the WNBL alongside legend Rachael Sporn for most rebounds in a single WNBL game.

Prior to the season, the Fire's club record for most offensive rebounds stood at nine. After equaling Claudia Brassard's record in Round 10, Crouse set a new club benchmark by tallying ten offensive rebounds against Canberra in Round 13.

Her 4.1 offensive rebounds per game is also a new Townsville Fire club record while her 8.0 defensive rebounds per game ranks second in all time for the Fire.

She was named Nivea Player of the Week in Round 8.

GOLDEN HANDS AWARD:
Sharin MILNER - Nature's Blend Bulleen Melbourne Boomers

Milner dished off 81 assists in 21 regular season games to average 3.9 assists per game -the sixth best in the league - tallied 44 steals at 2.1 per game (2nd in the league) and committed 50 turnovers.

She also netted 208 points at 9.9 points per game and tallied 72 rebounds at 3.4 rebounds per game.

The Golden Hands award is calculated by adding a player's total number of assists to steals and subtracting the number of turnovers.

MOST BLOCKED SHOTS:
Jennifer CROUSE - SeaFM Townsville Fire

Crouse tallied a league best 55 blocked shots in 24 home and away games this season at an average of 2.3 per game.

As well as being a league high, it ranks her third on the Fire's all-time list, narrowly behind her club record 2.4 blocks per game which she set last season.

She registered a blocked shot in all but one of her 21 games with her season high of five coming against Sydney Uni in Round 7.

BEST FIELD GOAL SHOOTING PERCENTAGE:
Tracey BEATTY - Canberra TransACT Capitals

The tallest player in the league successfully made 113 of her 194 shot attempts at a super impressive 58.2% through 24 regular season games.

She scored 232 points from the field (also scored 42 free throws) and only shot at lower than 50% from the field on three occasions. She also scored in double figures on 14 occasions.

BEST 3-POINT SHOOTING PERCENTAGE:

BEST FREE THROW SHOOTING PERCENTAGE:
Kathleen MACLEOD - Jimmy Possum Bendigo Spirit

The 2007 U21 World Championship silver medalist made a whopping 105 of her 126 free throw attempts in 24 regular season games to average a league best 83.3% from the charity stripe this season.

On eight occasions she shot at a perfect 100% from the free throw line and over 75% in another nine games.

She hit a season high 12 free throws from a season high 15 attempts against the AIS in Round 15 and made ten or more free throws on another three occasions.
